The company Strausak AG was founded in 1923 and built up as a family business in Lohn – Ammansegg (CH). The company successfully specialised in manufacturing high precision machines and attachments for the watch industry and construction of apparatus. With up to 180 employees the company Strausak was an important employer in the Solothurn region during the 70’s.
In spite of machine diversity and leading market position in the late 80’s the company was increasingly battling sales problems. 1994 the company registered yet another distinctive decrease in sales orders in the gear cutting and burnishing machine sector. The insecure prospects for the future forced management to act and persuaded them to sell the so-called micro technology sector in 1996 allowing them to fully concentrate on tool sharpening machine technology.
This decision made a management buy-out, with a new beginning under a new name and changed ownership structure, possible.
Under new management and with adjusted capacities a successful and long lasting turnaround was achieved in a relatively short time frame.
Thanks to continuous improvements in the already successfully implemented machines as well as new developments of different machines we were able to win market shares from our competitors and develop new markets.
In summer 2001 the administrative board decided to commission the construction of a new building corresponding with the needs of a growing company. Already in February 2002 we were able to move into our new company building, with 1,500 sq m, in the Lebernstrasse 63.
